PROCEDURES TO STUDY IN ITALY

Indian students interested to study in Italy for the academic year 2025-26 are invited to register through this link

International students residing abroad interested in pursuing their higher education in Italy, will have to follow the below mentioned mandatory steps:

1. Apply for admission through the website of the selected Higher Education Institution, within the deadline set by the institution.
Please note that each Higher Education Institution has different admission requirements, deadlines and tuition fees. All this information will be published directly on the Higher education Institution website.

2. Apply online within the deadlines for Pre-Enrolment through the UNIVERSITALY portal

The general documents required for pre-enrolment are:

  • scan of a passport-size photo;
  • scan of the passport;
  • scan of qualifications that allow access to the chosen course, according to the information provided by the higher education institution, with any translations and supporting documents and language proficiency certificates.

Please note:
If the student has been required, by the Italian Higher Education Institution for which he/she is applying for, to submit a document called Declaration of Value (DoV), the latter will be issued by the Competent Diplomatic Mission in India as follows:

  • Students that have completed their previous studies in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan,  Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh must apply through the Embassy of Italy in Delhi.
  • Students that have completed their previous studies in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Nepal must apply through the Consulate General of Italy In Kolkata.
  • Students that have completed their previous studies in Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep must apply through the Consulate General of Italy In Mumbai.
  • Students that have completed the previous studies in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry must apply through the Consulate General of Italy In Bengaluru.

3. Upon pre-enrolment, apply for a D-VISA, in case the duration of your course of study exceeds 90 days, OR apply for a C-VISA in case the duration of your study course is less than 90 days.

STUDENT VISA


Study visa applications must be submitted by prior appointment only on the VFS website, to the competent Italian Diplomatic Missions in India, through the competent VFS Center:

  • Applications from residents of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan,  Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh must be submitted to the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi through the following VFS Centers: New Delhi
  • Applications from residents of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Nepal must be submitted to the Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata through the following VFS Centers: Kolkata
  • Applications from residents of Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep must be submitted to the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai through the following VFS Centers: Mumbai, Kochi.
  • Applications from residents of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry must be submitted to the Consulate General of Italy in Bengaluru through the following VFS Centers: Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.


Please note that:

  • an admission letter from the university does not ensure that students will be granted a visa.
  • students might be required to attend a mandatory video interview upon submitting their visa application. In order to avoid any delays in the issuance of the visa, applicants are strongly recommended to submit the complete documentation required by the official study visa checklist.
  • The study visa checklist for AY 25/26 is out now


The expiry dates for pre-enrolment procedures in first and second level courses at Italian universities and AFAM institutions are defined in the timetable that is published annually by the Ministry of Universities and Research, as well as all the information given above, at this link: www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/
