AFAM SYTEM

The Higher Education Institutions for Artistic, Musical, and Choreographic Training (AFAM) carry out educational, production, and research activities in the artistic fields of visual arts, music, dance, drama, and design.

The AFAM sector includes:

  • State academies of fine arts
  • Legally recognized academies of fine arts
  • The National Academy of Dramatic Art
  • The National Academy of Dance
  • Music conservatories
  • Equivalent music institutes
  • Higher institutes for artistic industries (ISIA)
  • Institutions authorized to award titles in Higher Artistic, Musical, and Choreographic Education.

The AFAM educational system is structured into three cycles:

FIRST CYCLE

FIRST-LEVEL ACADEMIC DIPLOMA COURSE
Objective: To ensure adequate proficiency of artistic methods and techniques, as well as the acquisition of specific disciplinary and professional skills.
Duration: 3 years
Academic Formative Credits (CFA): 180
General admission requirements: 
-
12 years high school diploma or equivalent foreign qualification recognized as eligible
- Adequate knowledge of english (IELTS, TOEFL, proof of English medium of instruction, etc)
- Admission entrance test

SECOND CYCLE

SECOND-LEVEL ACADEMIC DIPLOMA COURSE
Objective: To provide students with advanced training for proficiency of artistic methods and techniques, and for acquiring high-level professional skills.
Duration: 2 years
Academic Formative Credits (CFA): 120
General admission requirements: 
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent foreign qualification recognized as eligible
- Adequate knowledge of english (IELTS, TOEFL, proof of English medium of instruction, etc)
- CV, academic performance, portfolio, previous studies, motivation, etc.

THIRD CYCLE

RESEARCH TRAINING ACADEMIC DIPLOMA COURSE
Objective: To provide the necessary skills for planning and conducting highly qualified research activities.
Duration: 3 years
Academic Formative Credits (CFA): Does not award credits
General admission requirements:

Second-level Academic Diploma or other recognized suitable foreign qualifications.

OTHER COURSES

Specialization Academic Diploma Courses:
Provide high-level professional skills in specific areas.
Advanced Diploma or Master's Courses: Provide in-depth knowledge in certain fields, professional retraining, and lifelong education, with a minimum acquisition of 60 CFU (academic credits).
