SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

MAECI PROGRAMME

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers scholarships to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad to promote international cooperation in cultural, scientific, and technological fields. The scholarships also aim to encourage the study of Italian language and culture and support Italy’s economic system in the global context.

Elegible Courses:

  • Master Degree Courses: offered by University & AFAM Institutions
  • PhD Programmes: Advanced research degrees offered by Italian universities
  • Research Projects: Supervised research opportunities at Italian academic institutions.
  • Italian Language Courses: Short-term language courses (3 months) to foster Italian language proficiency.

MAECI scholarship winners benefit from a tuition fee waiver and receive a monthly stipend of €900, which is paid every two or three months directly to their Italian bank account. These scholarships typically cover tuition, living expenses, and other associated costs for the duration of the program.

INVEST YOUR TALENT IN ITALY PROGRAMME

The Invest Your Talent in Italy (IYT) programme provides international students with opportunities to enhance their academic and technical skills. Through a selection of Master’s Degree courses and one-year postgraduate Master’s programmes taught in English at prestigious Italian universities, students can specialize in fields such as:

  • Engineering
  • Advanced Technologies
  • Economics & Management
  • Architecture & Design

Furthermore, students in the program also gain practical experience through on-the-job training at leading Italian companies. This hands-on training complements their academic pursuits and helps build industry connections.

IYT scholarship winners receive a tuition fee waiver and a total grant of €9,000 (equivalent to €1,000 per month for a period of nine months), renewable if they are enrolled in a two-year Master’s Degree programme. In addition, participants gain access to a network of peers and industry professionals, further supporting their future careers.

DIRITTO ALLO STUDIO UNIVERSITARIO (DSU)

The Diritto allo Studio Universitario (DSU) system is a financial aid and scholarship program designed to support students with financial needs who are applying for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at Italian universities. This aid is not available to PhD students.

The DSU grants include:

  • Tuition Waivers or Reductions: Based on family income, DSU can offer partial or complete tuition waivers.
  • Free Accommodation: Subsidized housing is available in university residences or affiliated private residences.
  • Free or Discounted Meals: Subsidized meals are offered at university canteens.
  • Monthly Payments: Monthly allowances help cover extra expenses such as books, sporting activities, and other living costs.

The approximate annual grant amount is €7,000, which varies depending on the region in which the university is located.
